As all the glossy mags say: Fashion Week street style is as important as what graces the catwalk itself.

Now if this alone isn't enough pressure to make me want to stay in my hotel curled under my sheets, add the fashion week street style paps into the mix and it becomes a literal curdling of cordisol & pretty shoes.

Unlike many other fashion week street style looks I drooled over, I wasn't decked out in head to toe designer.

And so, with my normal twenty-something-year old's wardrobe of high street and splashings of designer, I headed to day one of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, tottering in my $50 heels and clutching onto my Rebecca Minkoff bag with sweaty palms.

Here's my fashion week street style looks from day 1 of MBFWA.

And yes, I did the whole changing outfit thing.

Top: Zara (Similar)
Sunglasses: Prada
Heels: Famous Footwear

My first fashion week street style look was sort of an accident. No Rachel: you just went shopping!

My second day in Sydney was spent catching up with all the highstreet faves I missed from the UK. After hours of oh-so-glorious rummaging through Topshop, Zara and H &M, I emerged with far too many shopping bags and this cute ensemble.

I was originally going to wear the ruffled chiffon dress by itself, but the little slip I bought for underneath was so short that I had to pull it down and wear it as a skirt. Moral of the story: last week fashion week street style shopping can end up in awkward faux pas.

Rather than treating the creme-de-la-creme of Australia's fashion industry to a peek of my ugly bra, I decided to layer this embroidered Zara top underneath.

I actually really like the way this outfit turned out and I ended up flouncing around the morning shows of MBFWA feeling like some sort of frilly, whimsical Tinkerbell.

 Yes girl... whatever you say.

Dress: Dyspnea (Similar)
Floral slip: Vintage Dolce & Gabbana
Corset belt: Boohoo
Floral embroidered boots: Boohoo
Earrings & choker: Lovisa

After my shopping spree, I actually had more fashion week street style looks than the actual days in fashion week. **Doh** The only solution was to head back to my hotel, switch it up and come back for the afternoon shows.

Trans: I got to put up my blistered feet for two hours whilst eating greasy Thai food. So glam!

For the afternoon shows, I wore this silky, saucy Dyspnea dress and belted it up with this corset belt.

Rather than flashing my boobs (can you see a theme here), I layered this cute vintage Dolce & Gabbana floral slip underneath.

I carried on the floral theme with these cute Boohoo floral embroidered boots

Despite my outfit anxiety, you'll be happy to know that I didn't feel like a moldy quality street in a box full of Godivas. After all, my style is far more relatable to you guys then someone dressed in head to toe Net A Porter.

Check out my post on the MBFWA Resort 18 shows to see where I wore these get-ups to.

P.S. Stay tuned for the rest of my fashion week street style looks.
