Wanderlust: 5 Places You HAVE TO Visit in Far North Queensland

$

If I had a 10 cent coin for every time a reader asked 'oh my gosh, where was this photo taken?' I would be living like a Queen. Filling my readers with wanderlust for my tropical habitat puts a huge smile on my face. After all, I feel so blessed to be living in a dictionary definition of Paradise.

For all the readers who have ever loved looking at my photo shoot locations, I have listened and I am about to deliver: this one's for you! Get ready for a photographic tour of the natural wonder that is Far North Queensland.

Having first visited Cairns and it's surrounding areas as a backpacker in 2012, I quickly found myself falling deeply in love with the area. One evening, after a tour of the pristine Atherton Tablelands, I met my partner, a cairns local and ended up falling in love with him too (Eek- cheese alert much? CRINGE). The rest, as all corny novels say, is history...

All within a driving distance of the Cairns tourist hub, here's ten places you have to visit in Far North Queensland....
1. Millaa Millaa Falls, Atherton Tablelands
Millaa Millaa Waterfall
Nestled in pristine rain forest in the Cairns Highlands, Millaa Millaa falls makes you feel as if you have walked straight into a fairy tale.

With a 18m plunging cascade that vanishes into a pristine pool, it is easy to see why Millaa Millaa is the most photographed waterfall in Australia.
Millaa Millaa Falls

Made famous by the erm, interesting music video for Peter Andre's 'Mysterious Girl', you can take a dip in this refreshing mountain stream pool and maybe even do a hair flip while you're at it! It's apparently been featured in a Herbal Essences Ad too, and hey; who doesn't want to pretend to be one of those women?

The waterfall is situated on the Atherton Tableland's 'Waterfall Circuit', consisting of Milaa Milaa, Zillie, Ellinjaa and Pepina Falls. So if you have a car and a love for waterfalls: this one's for you!

2. Daintree- Cape Tribulation
Famously known as the place where the rain forest meets the reef, at Cape Tribulation you can literally see the coral touching the tree-lined shores.
Cape Tribulation
Cape Tribulation is an adventure. Setting off from the Daintree river, take a ferry across the most crocodile-infested river in Queensland and make your way up the winding rain forest path to Cape Tribulation.
Cape Tribulation

A true nature lovers paradise, you can spot Crocodiles basking in the wild by taking a Daintree River Cruise. You may even see an endangered Cassowary on your adventure!
 Swimming Cape Tribulation
Along the way, take refuge in private swimming spots (check for crocodile signs- PLEASE), visit sandy beaches and take a stroll along boardwalks set high among st  the rain forest canopy.

3. Fitzroy Island, Cairns
If the dictionary had photographs, Fitzroy Island would be next to the word 'paradise'. Situated a mere thirty minute boat ride from the Cairns CBD, Fitzroy Island has a laid back, sunny vibe that will get you hooked.

Whilst on the island, be sure to visit 'Nudey Beach'; don't worry, I've never actually seen anyone there sans clothes! It's white sand beach and crystal turquoise sea is a beach-lovers haven.

Although the coral isn't the best quality off Fitzroy, it's a really wonderful place for a quick dip! There is even a water trampoline off the main beach. Alternatively, you can burn some serious calories by taking on the challenging 'summit track' to the island's highest points. Between June and October, you may even spot a humpback whale!

If you want to chill, the bar and restaurant on the main beach offers the most luscious cocktails.

4. Granite Gorge, Mareeba
If you are an animal lover like me, go ahead and add Granite Gorge to your must-go list! A wonderful place to visit for a day trip or an overnight camp, Granite Gorge has several varieties of tropical birds, snakes and lizards you can hold and one crazy, head banging, parrot; who is my favorite resident!

The beautiful rocky landscape is home to several colonies of wild rock wallabies, who you can feed and pet. #CuteAlert

The rock-dotted wilderness is joined by luscious fresh-water streams you can cool off in. Take the walking track to the far end of the wildlife reserve and spot 'Whale Rock.'

5. The Low Isles, Port Douglas
Remember Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter? Just a few kilometers from the Low Isles was the place where the legend took his last few breaths. Don't let that put you off though! The Low Isles is an underwater garden of colorful soft corals.

As you put on your snorkeling gear and glide along the top of the crystal waters, it becomes obvious that you have entered a whole new world.  Swim with majestic sea turtles and witness an abundance of colorful, tropical fish!

Not had enough of your tropical fix? Stay tuned for part two!

The Daily Luxe x Banarsi Designs: The Ultimate Scarf Style Guide

Whether you are surrounded by the crisp, orange leaves of Fall or are donning your bikini for the upcoming summer, a scarf is a quick and easy way to add a stylish element to your look.

Not sure how to style your new scarf? Whether you've opted for a patterned or plain number, I've got you covered!

Although I live in tropical Australia, I sweated my butt off styling these stunning Banarsi Design scarves for you Northern Hemispher-ers! Hey: Don't say I don't love you! Fellow Aussie's: I've provided Summer options for you too!

Scroll down for my styling tips for any outfit, any weather!

White On White

White is still a huge trend for this season. To add a bit of oomph to your white get up, add a stunning printed white scarf. Hello boho beauty!

Winter

scarf street style
Wearing: Floral Paisley Scarf in green and purple

If you're currently cosying up in cooler climes, opt for a fluffy white jumper. Inject a texture clash by teaming your fluffy friend with the floral print statement scarf. I adore the lush turquoise and purple tones in this Floral Paisley Scarf; perfect for adding some Summery vibes for fall.

Summer

Bohemian scarf
Wearing: Floral Paisley Scarf in Autumn

If you come from a land down under, you can still use a floral boho scarf to brighten up your clean, white look! Go all out boho by teaming a crochet-embellished play suit with a paisley print scarf.  This Floral Paisley scarf would look equally as lush over a bikini as it does thrown over a pair of tanned shoulders.

Styling Prints

When it comes to a printed piece, look for the color that appears least in the print. Take a scarf that color and bring out that minimal color in your look.

Winter

burgundy scarf style
Wearing: Solid Color Scarf in Maroon

Floral for Spring? Groundbreaking! Floral's for Autumn? Yes please! To bring out the maroon tones in this posy-dotted blouse, I added the Solid Color Scarf in maroon. Top with the trench to keep the cold at bay.

Summer

bohemian dress scarf
Wearing: Solid Color Scarf in Turquoise

What's an easier way to be stylish than a boho-print dress? A boho print dress with a scarf! I brought out the luscious sapphire tones in this dress by adding the solid color scarf in turquoise. It's perfect for throwing over your dresses for a chilly beach night and even adds a glam factor with it's metallic sheen.

Alternatively, you can pair your statement scarf with a solid-color garment that brings out the least statement color in your scarf.

Winter

Fall scarf style
Wearing: Floral Paisley Scarf in green and purple

This burgundy knit dress beautifully brings out the subtle maroon tones in this scarf, while the scarf adds color and print to the plain dress. In other words, they are a match made in heaven.

Summer

scarf styling ideas

Another great styling tip is to bring out two colors in your scarf at once. This skirt and tee combo is seriously flattered by this scarf. The scarf also transforms this plain tee and skirt combo into a big fat tick to the Seventies trend.

Stripes On Stripes

If you own a stripe scarf, why not combine it with a striped ensemble? The only rule is: the striped scarf should be a different color to your look.

Winter

scarf styling winter

Clashing shades of blue stripes is a modern take on the age-old nautical trend. Blue and white pinstripes get a little lift when combined with a vibrant striped, print, such as that on the Striped Print Scarf. If it's extra chilly, add a jacket that is the same color as one of the tones in the scarf.  We think that faux fur adds a brilliant texture clash.

Summer

70s style scarf

Off-the-shoulder is a huge Summer trend for Southern Hemispher-ers, add to the sultry neckline by draping a scarf across the shoulders and arms. This simple monochrome striped top is given a quirky edge by this pink and red vibrant scarf. For a full-blown seventies look, style with a suede skirt.

Neutrals

No matter what the season, you can never go wrong with neutral tones! Uplift your grey and beige garments with a suitably neutral scarf with a vibrant twist.

Winter

floral scarf
Wearing: Abstract Floral Wool Scarf in brown

As the Autumnal fields turn into carpets of leaves, you no doubt find yourself delving into your chunky knits. Combine your fave grey or nude piece with a printed scarf with neutral undertones.

This Abstract Floral Wool scarf wonderfully blends with the knit whilst adding vibrant hints of electric orange.

Summer

scarf bohemian style
Wearing: Abstract Floral Wool Scarf in brown

Suede is all the rage and what better way to give your neutral suede piece an extra boho edge than a printed scarf? Opt for earthy brown and beige tones and drape over the arms for that nomadic vibe.

The Luxe For Less: It's SO Fluffy!

$

It all started with those seemingly childish fluffy pom-poms hanging off our handbags. 'What on earth is that?', asked the other half worrying that my sartorial influences now came from toddlers. 'Erm... if Fendi can do them, so can I, BABE!' #MenDontUnderstandFashion

Fast forward a few months and fashions love with everything fluffy and feathery has entered a new level. From my fave fluffy pom-pom earrings that I cannot take off, to the faux fur coats you guys are snuggling up in over in the Northern Hemisphere. Fashion has gone fluffy; and we love it! **Puts on Despicable Me Voice** 'It's SO FLUFFY I COULD DIE!'

My long term homies will know my serious love for all types of creatures and it's for this reason that I DO not support real fur! Guys; the fake stuff looks just as good, as some poor Minx didn't have to give up it's life for you! As for feathers, I'm featuring products that only use meat bi-product materials. Ok; enough of this ethical mumbo jumbo...

Here's how to inject a bit of fluff into your look without breaking the bank, or the environment...

Northern Hemisphere

1. Fluffy Mittens, Jack Wills (Here)  2. Faux Fur Boots, TOMs (Here)  3. Pom Pom Hat, ASOS (Here)  4. Faux Fur Collar Coat, Missguided (Here)  5. Feather Bandeau Dress, Topshop (Here)  6. Feather Skirt, Nicole by Nicole Miller (Here)  7. Fluffy Bag, ASOS(Here)  8. Feather Embellished Sweater, She In (Here)

Winter is the perfect excuse to get fluffy! If you want to go all out cookie-monster chic, go for a full blown faux-fur coat, such as this lovely Missguided number.

If you're starting out on the fluffy scale, add a couple of accessories to embrace this fun trend. These Jack Wills tan gloves will save your poor pinkies from frostbite and will look good with anything.

Feather embellishments are perfect for that dressy evening do too! Stand out and be fashion forward in this Topshop off-the-shoulder feather dress and nail two trends in one! Alternatively, this Nicole Miller feather skirt will look stunning paired with a high neck metallic top. You can even pair it with a chunky, oversized knit to rock this trend in the daytime!

Southern Hemisphere
1. Feather Gilet, Topshop (Here)  2. Pom-Pom Earrings, Boohoo (Here)  3.Feather Necklace, Macy's (Here) 4. Maxi Dress, Love Stitch (Here)  5. Faux Fur Bag, Missguided (Here)  6. Heels, Topshop (Here)  7. Belt, Cara Accessories (Here) 8. Pool Slides, MSGM (Here)

Fluffy doesn't necessarily have to equate to sweaty. Ok... I'm not advising you to wear a full blown faux-fur coat, that is sweaty, but little bits of fluffy and feathery embellishments here and there will add a third textured dimension to your look.

For a big fat tick to the Aussie Summer's boho trend, opt for this Topshop feather gilet. If you're looking to up the glam factor, opt for these matching heels too! **I am totally drooling over these**

If you're headed to the beach, why not swap your boring old pool slides for these fun feathery babies? Add some pom pom earrings for a little quirky edge. I have these beautiful earrings myself and I literally cannot take them off!

she in dressWhat do you get when you add up a maxi, shirt-dress, a floral border print and a button up? Clue: It doesn't come from your Nan's wardrobe!

Although maxi, shirt-dresses may have been niche to the ultra-conservative at one point, add a slit here and a retro print there and you're left with something on that lovely balancing line between classy and naughty.

Move over Macklemore, there's a new fashionista after grandma's hand-me-downs!

Whether taking inspiration from the classic, post-war, 1940s styles, or rocking a more Woodstock vibe, the maxi shirt dress is a blast from the past that I am more than happy to see.

I got my first maxi dress hit via this lush, boho-print She In*dress. Now I am hooked. The print combinationgives it that Nomadic feel; it could blend into a Moroccan or Mediterranean landscape equally. If I can't literally go on an around the world trip, at least I can wear one.

The long sleeves and classic button-front style are cleverly juxtaposed by the double thigh-high slits. Just watch keep an eye on that wind! One huge gust the wrong way and the whole beach could be blinded by the sight of your butt cheeks. Eeek!

These photographs were taken in Mission Beach, Queensland. Jake and I went for a weekend away as a bit of a Birthday treat to numb the pain of on-setting granny-ness. If you want silent palm-fringed beaches and tropical islands just a stone throw away, this one's for you!

P.S. My addiction to maxi shirt dresses will result in an entire style post dedicated to them. Stay tuned!

Call me crazy, but every time I venture to a new tropical Island,I feel like some sort of character from'The Beach'. Unfortunately, the trips never result in Leonardo Di Caprio. Darn!

Situated just 4KMs off the Cassowary Coast's Mission Beach, Dunk Island is the largest island in the Family Island's National Park. Dotted with fringing coral and home to rolling mountains and sandy beaches, the island is a lush paradise that is just that little bit off the beaten track.

Having suffered a devastating hit from Cyclone Yasi back in 2011, the once-popular resort remains closed to the public. Luckily, the island itself allows day trips so that tourists and locals alike can explore it's undeniable beauty.

You can while away days on the beach front's cute cafe, munching on fresh prawns and sipping cocktails. Or if you are wanting to unleash your inner Captain Cook, you can take a hike on one of the island's scenic walking tracks. **Warning: Excess sweating**

For a beach-hopper like me, this clear turquoise paradise is a big fat tick! I might head back with a tent, the other half and a life-time supply of chocolate and become some sort of literal beach bum.

For this walk in paradise wilderness, I opted for this lightweight Style Moi play suit. Despite it's typical Autumnal color, it's super cool and is a surprising champion at keeping the sweat at bay! I added this suedette, fringe necklace for a little bit of a boho vibe.

As for the hat and sunnies, they are my saving grace when it comes to this tropical heat. 'Slip slop and slap' (sunscreen that is)!

Do you have any islands I can add to my wanderlust list?

The perfect balance between the trend and the wardrobe staple? The modern classic! Take classic jeans with a flared seventies twist, a nude bag and a black-wrap cami. Sprinkle on some ditzy, sterling silver, stacking rings and a boho pendant from Emma & Roe* and now we're talking!

When Michael Hill's brand 'Emma and Roe' contacted me to style some of their newest pieces, I couldn't resist! My regular readers will know that jewellery makes up a whopping percentage of my wardrobe, so I couldn't wait to stack and layer these stunning sterling silver pieces to my hearts desire!
'Emma and Roe' thrive on the personal; they want to 'help you tell your story' through the combination of pieces you wear. It was this element of customization that really made me fall for this Cross Pattern Coin Pendant. This unique pendant consists of three parts, a chain, a cubic zirconia dotted pendant holder and a coin pendant. The coin pendant easily clicks open, allowing you to change up your look by inserting a different coin pendant. Clever or what? 'Emma & Roe'; you boffins! I chose this stunning coin for it's wanderlust-filled Moroccan vibe; it gives me really sunny vibes.

These sterling silver stacking rings have not left my fingers! I'm a huge sucker for the multiple ring look and spend far too much time pinning drool-worthy images of stacked ring looks. With this sexy sterling silver quartet, I am sorted! I absolutely adore the black cubic zirconia stacking ring and it acts as a great center piece to dot my other rings around. I mixed textures and shapes by throwing in the circle-shaped band, which juxtaposes beautifully with the plain band. The result? A total hand party!
For today's look, I wore the pieces spread along my fingers for a midi-ring effect. They look equally as beautiful stacked directly on top of each other too.

To adhere with the trendy-meets-classic vibe of my 'Emma an Roe' goodies, I opted for flared seventies jeans, which are a subtle nod to this seasons trend. I added my brand new DKNY nude bag, which Jake treated me to for my birthday (thanks babe!). This is one piece that will never go out of style!

beach co-ords
You've seen them taking over Pinterest one shiny shot at a time. With the rise of the boho trend, statement silver necklaces are a quick and easy way to change up your look.

Today I'm styling up these statement silver necklace from T Mart. All lightweight and comfortable to wear, these boho beauties are a total steal and are all under $10 AUD! (Yep: you read that right!)

Beachy Bliss
The thought of December may not typically bring images of blue seas and beachy days, but hey; this is Australia! If you're dwelling in this topsy-turvy land, up your boho game and add a chunky, coin necklace on top of your beachy two piece. If you're feeling extra confident, why not add this beauty to your hot swimwear look? Quick: Before post-Chrismas tummy sets in!

I know I've said it before, but a hat instantly makes a look more polished. This lush Choies fedora adds a cool edge without screaming 'closet hipster.'

 Beat The Chill
Brrr-ave the chill and step outdoors in a statement-necklace-topped chunky turtleneck. I sweated so hard to photograph this Northern-Hemisphere appropriate look for you guys, but it was totally worth it! There is something so elegant and quirky about a statement necklace adorning a turtleneck. Simply choose one with accents to compliment your skirt or pants, tuck the chain under your turtleneck and you're ready to go!

What was painfully sweaty for me will undoubtedly be nice and snug for those of you headed into Winter. Silver necklaces on grey garments is my new go-to look; there is something just so subtle and elegant about the contrast and textures, without being too bawdy with colors.

The pearls and black stone accents on this statement necklace make it perfect to combine with a black skirt and boots. If you're in snowy Europe, I seriously suggest five layers of tights and two long-sleeved thermals underneath this look. I don't want to sound like your mother, but frostbite looks darn scary!

How do you style your statement necklaces?

The Look: Rose Quartz & Serenity

If you have your finger firmly placed on the pulse of all things fashion, you will have heard that Pantone has announced two new colours as the hues of 2016.

Rose quartz and serenity

I don't mean to blow my own trumpet here **doo doo doo**, but I totally accidentally predicted the return of light blue. As a matter of fact, when 'New Chic'* contacted me and asked me to style some pieces from their collection, I was drawn to two pieces in this, cool duck egg tone (ok, it's not quite as lilac-y as Serenity, but close enough). Soothesayer or crazy coincidence? I've embellished it with accents of rose quartz and I'll let you be the judge...

Clutch: New Chic* (Get it here) - ONLY $6.25!
Heels: Local Boutique
Earrings & Necklace: Lovisa

When I first saw Pantone's 2016 choices, I was in awe. Together, these two colours transport us to a land of mythical unicorns and tranquil, cloud-dotted skies. The childlike, pastel tones undoubtedly have a calming and whimsical effect psychologically and it is for this reason that Pantone crowned them the colours of 2016.

Pantone's executive director, Leitrice Eisennman chose these two colors for two main reasons. The first was to signify a need for a calm place in a fast-paced, post-modern world. And what is more relaxing than these two, demure pastel tones? Let's embrace our inner unicorn and chill out!

Secondly, the two tones signify the shift in gender roles and the rise of the gender-less.

In an attempt to re-create Pantone's fairy-like oxymoron, I styled my serenity-hued off-the-shoulder top with this suitably Princess-y (and a mere $12), crochet, pencil skirt. I added another serene injection with this cute, little clutch bag. Is it just me, or are tiny bags just the cutest?

To add some warm hues to my cool-blue get up, I added a literal rose quartz necklace and some matching statement earrings. A rose quartz mani contrasted perfectly with my serenity clutch.

Me in these heels is like some sort of drunken clown, but I thought that the light rose colour added that final, polished touch.

And you know what? This colour combo actually made me feel super relaxed. Ahhh...Pantone: you've done it again!

Are you coveting rose quartz and serenity?

Does anyone else remember the days of invisible zips? I do, even though my outfit screams otherwise. With this statement, lace up top and button-up front denim skirt, any passer by would probably think my message is: 'look, I can dress myself!.'

Ok... I'll stop being sarcastic now.

Ever since I saw a snap of my girl crush Chiara Ferragni rocking a lace up, black bodysuit, I had to have one! This lace up top from Choies is cuter than Ryan Reynolds topless. I paired it with this button-up, denim skirt, which has a really understated Seventies vibe to it.

And as I say on every single outfit post, a hat is an instant finishing touch. This wool fedora really bowls it out of the park for me.

These photos were taken at the newly refurbished Cairns Centenary Lakes at the Botanical Gardens. They have recently introduced a Chinese Friendship Garden. There is something so zen about the Eastern architecture among-st the Australian bird life that makes me want to sit here for hours and hours.

The Perfect Party Dress For Your Body Shape

party dress for your body type
Get those glasses of wine at the ready, girls! The silly season is officially here! With Saint Nick arriving in just seven days, it's time to get into that party season spirit! Me? I'm totally wearing a Santa hat while I'm writing this!

Your social calendar is undoubtedly already filling up fast (am I right, Miss popular?) and let's be honest, that six day period between Christmas and New Years is made for lashings of mulled wine and impromptu giggles under the mistletoe.

Is your wardrobe ready? If not, don't fret! I'm back with another 'dressing for your shape' series and this time, it's all about that perfect party dress...

It's been quite a while since my last 'dressing for your body shape' post, so I thought I'd refresh you on how to find out which type of 'fruit' you are.

Nope... I'm not totally insane: read on...

How To Determine Your Body Shape

 Pear Shape
As a fellow 'typical British' pear shape, it's safe to say that this is the shape that needs to be dressed well. It's all about drawing attention to that slim waist and  making those hips and legs look long and lean.
Here are the shapes that will give you that rocking bod (which you already have, of course)....

The Strapless Dress
Show off those slim shoulders and rock your bod in a strapless dress. For an extra flattering look, opt for a shape that cinches in at the waist and skims out over the hips.

strapless lbd

The Skater Dress
The skater dress is the pear shaped ladies BFF. With a cinched in waist and a flattering, a-line shape that skims beautifully over the hips; this dress shape was practically made for you!
lace skater dress

Wide Leg Jumpsuit
If you're looking to stand out among st a plethora of glitzy dresses, why not opt for a wide leg jumpsuit? As well as being ultra flattering on your larger legs, this totally ticks all those Seventies trend boxes! Now get ready for the best-dressed awards to roll in...

70s jumpsuit

Apple
Being top heavy can have it's advantages; draw attention to those ta-tas and away from that tum! Go for shapes that skim over the tummy, but still let you show off those perfect pins!

V Neck Dress
How low can you go? Just as far as your confidence will take you! A v neck dress shows off your best assets and elongates your neck. For an extra flattering style, a wrap dress will skim over your curves whilst creating the illusion of a cinched-in waist.
plus size model

Kimono Maxi Dress
If you're looking to be super on-trend, go for a kimono-style dress. The loose, airy sleeves will hide any bingo-wings, whilst looking pretty and feminine! Whilst dress shopping, try and find a dress with a waistline just below your bust. This will emphasize your bust, whilst drawing attention away from your waist. A maxi length will stop the dress from looking too smock-like.

Flared Sleeve Dress
Carry a bit of weight on your arms? Girl, it's all good... Get your Seventies groove on in a flared sleeve dress. This stunning bell shape will skim over and even-out any lumps and bumps.
flare sleeve dress

Hour-Glass
You are one lucky lady: you have been blessed with the perfect, symmetrical figure that most of us mere mortals can only dream of! To enhance your bod, go for firm-fitting fabrics that enhance your waist.
The Bodycon Dress
Draw attention to your saucy curves in a stunning, body-con number. Fancy sequins and other embellishments? Go for it!
bodycon dress

The Wrap Dress
You have that teeny waist, so draw attention to it! A wrap dress is the ultimate waist definer. Opt for a style with a leg slit for that extra injection of naughtiness!
http://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=488166548&pid=uid9936-2426044-72

The Co-Ords
No one can pull off co-ords like an hour glass girl! A slim-fitting top and pencil skirt will show off-those curves, while that teeny slither of skin draws attention to that waist.
http://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=492825909&pid=uid9936-2426044-72

 Rectangle
With your model-esque, up and down, figure, you can rock everything. However, if you wish to enchance your curves, there are a few clever dressing techniques that you can put into play...

The Fluted Dress
Add some shape to your up-and-down figure with a fluted dress in a thick, sturdy fabric. I suggest opting for an artistically shaped piece to really win in the style stakes.

http://bit.ly/1UHtLke

The Playsuit
With your long, slim limbs, a playsuit will look like it's come straight off the runway when you walk into that party! Add a waist belt for a cinched-in optical illusion. Then just wait to be scouted...Unless you already are Cara Delevigne. (If so, I'm a huge fan!)

The Skater Dress
Although I may have mentioned earlier that the skater dress is the pear-shaped ladies best friend, it's equally as magical on rectangle-shaped beauties! The way it goes in at the waist and flares out at the hips will give you an instant butt job, sans surgical procedures.

The Look: I'll Never Be A Minimalist

Color, print and shapes are seriously doing one big party in todays look. It's safe to say that I will never be a minimalist...

 Dress (worn open): Choies (Here)
Lace Top: Mink Pink (Similar Here)
Overalls: Valleygirl (Similar Here)
Shoes: Rubi
Cuff & Rings: Lovisa

As I scroll through yet another perfect monochrome Instagram feed full of perfectly folded white tees on marble tables, a sudden thought pops into my head: 'Seriously, Rach: you will never be this cool.'

I don't lie. It seems that a lot of popular fashion bloggers take a really minimalistic approach to their personal style. At one point last week I had a bit of a meltdown; what's the point of doing this? Maybe I'm not even stylish? The bloggers whose followers are growing are all 'perfectly polished minimalists.'

Say what? I'll break it down for you: A 'perfectly polished minimalist' could be described as a stunningly model-esque babe, with a banging bod and a soft spot for monochrome. She wears a white, Zimmerman shirt dress and a pair of plain slides and looks effortlessly cool. She experiments with shapes, but keeps it timeless. Everyone wants to be her. She could make a Tesco bin bag look cool. Her feed is an oh-so-perfect, seamless meshing of greyscale tones and arty shapes.

And here's me parading through the rainforest, pretending my boho print dress is a cape, dressed in a conglomeration of lace and pastel green overalls, with a big-ass bun in my hair.

I repeat: I will never be a 'cool' minimalist. But I will be myself. And although I may have days where I dress in simple, black pieces, my love for color and print isn't going anywhere.

The stunning minimalists are fashionable and so am I. And the moral of the story, dear reader, is to be yourself.

Peace out!

5 Quick and Stylish Ways To Look Festive On Christmas

$

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring.... well, except me! Dresses and Skirts are flying through the air, while I try to decide how on earth to do my hair.

If you still need to inject some last minute Christmas Spirit into your look, you're in the right place! Scroll on for my five quick tips....

1. Dressed Down Sequins
Just because you'll be spending the day with great Aunt Nora and co, doesn't mean that you can't get glammed up! Inject a little holiday spirit into your look with a seasonal splash of sequins.

The key to this one is to keep it casual. After all, your family living room is not hosting the Emmy Awards on December the 25th! Choose one statement sequin piece and dress is down with denim, jersey and knit fabrics.

For the Southern Hemisphere

2. A Festive Berry Lip
It's 100% proven that a coloured lip will instantly make you look more polished. With frost-bitten berry tones and red-wine hues, a bold berry lip will instantly make you look the part.

3. Red Glitzy Nails
Nothing says 'Merry Christmas' like some festive-appropriate nails! If you have five minutes to make yourself look just that extra bit festive, why not do a DIY Christmas mani?

Here's one I prepared earlier! To create these glitzy nails, I started by applying two coats of Rimmel Lasting Finish Nail Polish in 'Double Decker Red.' I then added a coat of Barry M Aquarium polish in Atlantis.

4. Statement Earrings
A glitzy, drop earring is a win no matter what you're wearing.

1. She In Green Drop Gemstones 2. She In Silver Clip 3. River Island Silver Gemstones 4. She In Green Gemstone Vintage Drops

5. Put A Bow On It!
Christmassy hairstyles don't necessarily have to equate to Cindy Lou Who from 'The Grinch'. Be the hottest thing under the tree by re-creating this bow hairstyle.

Last week, I had a little self-indulgent rant about how easy it is to loose yourself in the never-ending sea of bloggers and social media. Missed it? Check it out here. Thank you all so much for your heart-warming and supportive comments! You have been the rainbow in my cloudy mind. Gees- pass the stilton, Rach!

Today I bring you yet another outfit that's looks like it's walked out of some sort of trippy, Seventies rainbow. This Zaful maxi dress is about as bright as it gets! The print is like the love child of Joni Mitchell and Rainbow Brite, with some South-East Asian flowers thrown in. Although the body-con shape did discern me at first **hello thunder thighs**, it's super comfy and instantly uplifts my mood.

It is a rainbow and the current tropical, Monsoon season. I thought England was the wettest place on Earth, but I was wrong. Tropical North Queensland takes the prize for sogginess! I'm off back to the UK to visit family in a week and I'm not too sure how my tropical-accustomed blood will react to the chill factor. I'm super excited though! To say I have been Pinning 100 Winter outfits per day would be an understatement.

Bring on the snow!

Happy New Year! Today is the chance to set out on a year long adventure filled with love, laughter and a whole lotta incredible memories. And clothes, of course!

It's probably just me and my far-too-corny brain, but I find something really empowering about the start of a new year. It's a fabulous time to hit refresh and make sure your life is filled with joy and fun. This year, I'm going to make more of a conscious effort to improve myself internally. I aim to be more positive and to live in the moment. As I get further and further into my twenties, I find that the years go faster and faster. So, as cliche as it sounds, we have to grab every moment with both hands and embrace it.

To start the new on a colorful note, I opted for this retro blue, floral print dress with my 'John Lennon' style, mirrored, sunglasses. My new Schutz sandals were my Christmas gift from Jake and they are officially my favorite thing in my closet. There's something so casual, yet elegant, about the lace-up-detailing mixed with the on-trend gladiator shape. And then there's my good old, been-featured-in-a-million-posts hat. I promise it won't appear in too many outfit posts this year..... NOT!

Wishing my beautiful luxe-rs all the best for 2016.

Ok.... surely I am not the only one who stares at fashion week photos and wishes that some sort of trend wizard would magically make a trillion dollars appear in my wallet? Thought not!

Luckily, I'm back with another of my 'Luxe for Less' series and I'm ready to bring you the hottest catwalk trends on the budget of a pauper! Today it's all about recreating Tommy Hilfiger's lush Spring/Summer 2016 collection.

So if you are coveting Jamaican-esque colors, tropical florals and a whole lotta island vibes, read on...

As a matter of fact, Hilfiger literally transformed his runway into an island lagoon. Cue Gigi and Bella looking ravishingly Rastafarian. We approve.

Here's how to get the look for less...

Northern Hemisphere
Although the collection may be aimed at the warmer season, there's nothing wrong with beating the crowd and starting to style the trends a season early.

It may be a little too chilly to whip out the crochet dresses, but a pair of printed, Rastafarian-print trousers will keep you nice and snug. And guess what? This Apparelcandy.com pair is a mere $6. That's the price of a Subway Sandwich!

Team your pants with an off-the-shoulder, chambray, top, layered under a denim bomber jacket. Add some aviators for some instant Jamaican glam, even if the sun isn't shining!

Tropical floral prints are perfect for the beach! And seriously, how close are these bikini bottoms to the actual Hilfiger pieces?

Keep the glare at bay with some mirrored aviators: Bob Marley would surely approve! And some tribal-printed sandals are a stylish solution for sandy feet.

I’ve never been one for swimsuit photos, but after almost a year of upping my workout routine I thought ‘what the heck!’ Like most young women, I have spent most of my adult life having a negative relationship with my body. From dreading buying that pair of jeans, to covering up my self-named ‘thunder thighs’ every time it was warm enough to brave a swimsuit.

But for the first time in my life, I am not embarrassed to say that I am starting to feel more confident in my own skin. So when Triangl sent me this stunning neoprene bikini, I decided to head to the beach and take some snaps. Yes: I will never be Miranda Kerr. Yes: I have stretch marks. Yes: My thigh gap is smaller than one inch, but, you know what: I’m ok with that. This beautiful neoprene bikini hugs my curves like a glove, giving me that extra inch of body confidence I need to bare all (well…nearly) on the beach.
crochet bikini

I’m still not gonna get out all the trumpets and exclaim that ‘I have the perfect bikini body.’ As a matter of fact, you’re more likely to find me whacking out the odd violin and play ‘an ode to my chub thighs.’ But I’m getting better. And, from seeing such a huge improvement in both my body confidence and my physical shape in the past year, I thought I would share with you my tips.

Disclaimer: Girrrrlll… you know I’m not a personal trainer/dietician/ whatever. But I would love to think that I’d helped one person feel just that little bit better about their bod. And hey; I’m gonna take that chance!

1. Aim for strong not skinny
Back in my teenage years, I put far too much emphasis on what the scales were reading. It only took me until now to realise that the scales can often be our arch nemesis. But once I aimed to build muscle and fitness, I actually started enjoying working out. I set myself cardio goals and made it a personal challenge. Believe me you will get such a good buzz when you can finally do those 30 stomach crunches!
bikini body image

2.     2. Know What’s Reality
It really saddens me that young women compare themselves to those stunners in glossy mags. Guess what? Those stretch marks? That cellulite? Once little poof of the Photoshop wizards wand and it’s all gone. Beyonce has cellulite. Almost everyone has stretch marks: own it!

With models, it’s all in their genes! As someone who has worked closely with runway models I can only begin to tell you the amount of junk food these girls eat backstage! They have some sort of turbo-power metabolism. We should aim for what’s healthy for us.
 bikini pear shape
3.    3. Enjoy life
GRRRRRR at diets! C’mon; who wants to give up ice cream? These calorie-cutting diets seem all great for that three month program, but once we ditch it, all the weight will come creeping back on.
My motto is: enjoy life! Don’t skip those poolside mojitos with friends or that crème brulee, but do you really need fast food? Similarly, make exercise something you really enjoy. Working out doesn’t have to be doing burpees until you faint, it can be as simple as an afternoon walk or a salsa class. Find what you find fun and stick to it!
Triangl neoprene bikini
4. Embrace yourself
Perfection is over-rated. Imagine just how much pressure you would be under if you were Gigi Hadid? Embrace all the beautiful things about yourself inside and out.

'You sound like yar from Landan!', says every single Australian person ever.
**Rolls eyes**

'Actually...erm I'm from the other side of the country.' Gotta love those crazy Bruce's and Sheilas!

I've been acting as a British tour guide to my Australian other half (who doesn't understand socks- bless him) and earlier this week we hit the big smoke of London town!

I think that nothing really beats London when it comes to England; you have the Medieval architecture of 'The Tower of London', the bustling political district and the sheer beauty of Westminster Abbey.

The highlight of the day had to be an evening trip on The London Eye. The city scape really does look like a twinkling metropolis after dark! Plus: Who is totally over their fear of heights? **Slyly raises hand**

I'm going to sound like the craziest, whiniest, ungrateful fashionista here, but I really miss Winter dressing. Although all of my limbs may be suffering from questionable frost bite, at least I get to be creative with my wardrobe! There's something really cool about layering different shapes and textures. Hey; there's only so many ways you can style denim shorts!

Today I layered up in a chunky knit jumper and a cosy Primarni cape! I've been wanting to try out this seasons cape obsession for so long now- so England is the perfect, albeit frosty, excuse.

However, my favorite part of my look has to be my beautiful new black leather and rose gold Marc Bale watch, courtesy of The Peach Box. It goes perfectly with the its-so-pretty-i-could-die 'Roman Empress Bangle' in rose gold. If you want your own arm party, you can get 15% off all product from The Peach Box using the code 'mb-thedailyluxe'.

Don't say I never spoil you! The code expires the end of Jan, so get shopping!

Brrrr- it's chilly, and although I would prefer to return to Australia in a defrosted state, we braved it and went out in the snow.

There's something about snow that magically transforms me into a ten year old child. On the word 'snow', I seriously whacked out my sledge faster than you can say 'hakuna matata'.

I kept nice and snug in my beautiful checked coat from Relaxfeel*. With a lush, fluffy woolen lining and hand-warming pockets, this baby is the way to keep the cold at bay. The tartan pattern is so classic and timeless and I could imagine this coat looking just as lovely with an evening dress, as it does with my jeans and high-boots combo.
Huge shout out to my other half and avid Instagram ‘husband’, Jake, who, having grown up in tropical Australia, had never seen snow before! Until now! Safe to say that I got pelted by a plethora of snow balls… thanks babe!
My favorite way of switching off has always been wandering through stunning landscapes, whilst listening to my favourite tunes. Whether I’m drifting through my regular tropical landscape or this stunning, snow-kissed wonderland, these Sudio Vasa headphones in white and rose gold provide the perfect soundtrack!

When Swedish brand Sudio contacted me about their fashion-forward, yet studio quality headphones, I couldn’t resist this beautiful white and rose gold pair. If you’ve been a regular ‘luxe-r’, you will know my crazy obsession soft spot for anything is this girly hue and, let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than a cute accessory with a purpose!
‘I can feel it coming in the air tonight- woahh!’ Forget that funky Cadbury’s ad circa 2005 with the drum-playing gorilla, Sudio is the new thing to be inspired by Phil Collins. Having run into Phil Collins in the street, who was encountering problems with his own ear phones at the time, the company named their headphones after his song ‘Sussudio.’

Being a lady who normally prefers the huge, chunky, wanna-be-hipster, over ear headphones, I can honestly say: ‘Sudio: You have officially converted me.’ The Vasa headphones are second-to-none when it comes to sound quality. Plus: the in-ear bud is surprisingly comfortable and acts as a great noise blocker. It also has a handy 3 button remote and Mic that is compatible with my Samsung Galaxy Phone. Given that I am always being screamed at for being on my phone, the headphones will ensure I don’t make everyone extra angry, by keeping any phone noises firmly planted in my ears.

So now I can watch funny cats in private!
And so can you! Get 15% off your Sudio earphones with the code 'thedailyluxe'
